Memorial Day!

During our Memorial Day holiday we had that little storm Beryl come visit. Living on the coast (and in Georgia all my life) I have seen tropical storms come and go and one particular, a Tropical Depression called Alberto, which caused a significant amount of flooding damage in 1994. I lived in the middle Georgia area at that time, with my parents, whose house was built into a side of a hill. So envision the front of the house looking normal and when standing in the back, the roof was about a foot off the ground. This was a construction idea of my father when he built the home to help with insulating the house...which was a very great idea, until this flood came. It rained so much that the water soaked so much that it actually came back up under the house taking out the carpet and leaving about a half inch of water throughout the house.

OK, the entire point of that story was to tell you that I fucking love me some hurricane/tropical storm weather. If it ruined the house, not so much, but let me tell you, in 1994, when I was a mere 13 years old, I thought the grand rapids in my front yard was AMAZING. I probably tubed for two days straight. Not sure how I didn't get swept away. Not even sure my parents knew I was doing it, seeing as how they were trying to save the house from complete disaster...eh, I lived.

SO naturally we had a hurricane/Memorial Day party at my friend Christine's house (photos taken in order)

That is me drinking tequila. Margarita to be exact. Me and tequila don't really mix. Don't give me tequila. It doesn't make me sick, but it sure makes me mouthy and inexplicably able to wrestle AND TAKE DOWN people that I should NOT be wrestling OR taking down. (sorry, Larkin. No, wait, not sorry. HA! Took you down beyotch!)

The storm came and went without much damage to the area

And made everything pretty and green!!!

Until the next one!!

We Had a Gala of a Good Time!

This weekend was the final event for the American Diabetes Association. One of the partners in the firm, along with many, many other people form teams and raise a fuckton of money for the ADA every year. And at the end of that long, arduous fundraising, we have a smashing good time at the gala.

Open bar, AMAZING food, dancing and shenanigans...Me, Whitney, Michelle and Larkin... (Krystal's brother flew in to town this weekend, so Krystal graciously gave up her seat to Larkin...who, after all, is actually diabetic, so it worked out)

You know that thing where you are taking picture after picture and shit and then someone ACTS like they are taking a picture and they are really video taping...this is the reaction you will get from me when that happens:

On that note, I leave you with another 'stach photo:

Drugs Are Bad, Kids.

I have a friend, who shall remain nameless so as to protect the guilty, whose company just recently hired on someone to help at their office.

List of issues that have happened since the new hire came on 17 days ago:

Day 1 & 2, (Wednesday & Thursday) shows up on time, everything is great.

Day 3 (Friday), she doesn't show up, doesn't call until 3.5 hours later and states her mom has been in a car accident and her phone was dead.

Day 4 (Monday) - She shows up on time, apologizes again for being gone Friday

Day 5 (Tuesday) - She shows up 25 minutes late. Says lots of school traffic.

Day 6 (Wednesday) - Shows up 30 minutes late. Says she had a flat tire.

Day 7 (Thursday) - 35 minutes late. Says her boyfriend went to the hospital for having a seizure the night before. He has no history of seizures (weird). Also, boyfriend's mom was in accident and at the hospital at the same time her boyfriend was and didn't get home until 4 a.m. Friday morning. The boss man had a talk with her, during which she admits it all sounded like a bunch of bull shit, but claims it really is just bad luck.

Days 8 -14 – On time, no problems

Day 15 (Tuesday) - 35 minutes late. Claims boyfriend worked late and drives her car and was unable to get back in time for her to leave for work.

Day 16 (Wednesday) - On time.

TODAY:

Day 17 (Thursday) - 10 minutes late. Comes in hysterical and crying saying she is having panic attack. Asks to keep her really busy with work and then goes into the front office to locate some files.

Within minutes falls asleep on the floor in the credenza cabinet. Boss man and co-worker can't wake her up so they call her mom, who is the emergency contact, whom she wakes up to speak to in slurred speech.

Face. Mother. Fucking. First. Into The. File.

Please see video for how hard this chick was sleeping.

Following this little chit chat with mom, she sends boss IM saying "I'm completely embarrassed and extremely hungry" and then goes back in to front office and tries to call boyfriend to pick her up. She falls asleep in the credenza AGAIN, with the cordless phone, which she leaves on and on the floor. Phone dies.

No file support on this one, just straight up fell OUT.

Customer walks in and hears her in the office snoring, asks if she is okay. Her mom calls to check on her, she wakes up. She goes back to her actual desk and cries and may have fallen asleep again.

Claims she didn't take anything for panic attack.
______________________________________________________________________________
So TODAY’S issue…taking too many pills and having a hard time not falling asleep in the credenza.

Seriously. How hard is it to show up to work…and work?!

You guys know how I love me a good time…and I can count on ONE HAND how many times I have missed work in SIX YEARS for ANYTHING. That includes being sick, hangovers and general “I don’t want to work today blahs”.

All that being said, I must applaud un-named friend for capturing these candid shots of soon to be fired newly hired person. This has been the source of MUCH entertainment today!

Annual Cinco/Beerlympics Party

This year we hosted our Beerlympics party on Cinco de Mayo...because, why the hell not!

This year's party included karaoke and a photo booth...and let me tell you, I am building my own photo booth now. This is a MUST have.

I have no idea what time I finally decided to go to bed, but I DO know that Larkin was in my bed with Krystal and I was sleeping out in the living room on an air mattress with two men. CLARIFICATION, the men were on the couches. Separate couches. We were just all in the living room together.

However, before that moment, we were all in a blow up kiddie pool partially nude. I say partially because only one of us was topless...I will leave names out of it. (It wasn't me this time!)

Enjoy the photos! I would like to thank Whitney for hooking us up with the photo booth, Michelle for hooking us up with photos of the party and Whitney and Michelle both for bringing drinks and shiznit...XOXO! ...and Ander of A-Jamz karaoke for bringing the bad ass karaoke set up!
